Catholic Youth from Neotan Parish Wins Gold at WAKO India Open International Kickboxing Tournament

New Delhi, February 7, 2025 – Shamchak Mossang, a 22-year-old athlete from Neotan Parish, Sacred Heart Church, pursuing a Bachelor of Arts (B.A.), secured a gold medal at the 4th WAKO India Open International Kickboxing Tournament. This was held in New Delhi from February 1 to 5, 2025 and her victory has brought immense pride to her community.

Reflecting on her journey, Mossang shared that her path to becoming a sportsperson was not easy. “Despite every hardship, I believe that God loves us and gives us strength to overcome any situation. Since my school days, it has been my dream to be an athlete. It all started when I began participating in sports and games in school. That’s when I discovered my real interest and potential.”

She credited her faith and determination for helping her overcome obstacles. “I always used to pray that I would join a sports academy someday. Fortunately, my family realised my passion and finally allowed me to join the newly opened sports academy near my hometown. Initially, I had to take a bus or ride a bicycle daily for training, travelling 14–15 km from my village. But I never gave up on my dream.”

Mossang expressed gratitude to those who supported her journey. “I am really grateful to God, my family, well-wishers, and all my coaches at Extreme Martial Fitness Club (EMFC) for giving me the chance to live my dreams.” Her triumph highlights her dedication and skill in the sport, inspiring young athletes from her region to pursue excellence.
