Caroline’s Miraculous Journey from Miscarriages to Motherhood Through Mary’s Intercession

When medicine had no answers and hope seemed to fade, Caroline Salve chose faith over fear — and witnessed what she calls “a miracle of Mother Mary and Jesus.” Today, as she watches her four-year-old daughter play, Caroline remembers the years of tears, prayer, and unwavering belief that turned her sorrow into joy.

Caroline Salve, a counsellor at St Vincent Pallotti School in Jabalpur, recalls how her life changed after marriage. “After two years of marriage, I suffered two miscarriages,” she said. “Despite many treatments and consultations, I could not conceive again.” Her gynaecologist later confirmed that her condition was critical due to a very low AMH level, making natural conception almost impossible. The doctor advised her to undergo IVF treatment — but Caroline and her husband decided to turn instead to prayer.

“Rather than giving up, we placed everything in God’s hands,” she shared. Together with her husband, a journalist with PTI, Caroline began praying fervently and started a novena to Our Lady of Velankanni, known among devotees for her miraculous intercessions. “We prayed with full devotion, attending the novena and asking for the blessing of a child,” she said.

Even when faced with discouragement, Caroline’s faith never wavered. “During prayer, I would often see visions of Mother Mary, though I didn’t understand them at first,” she recalled. “But I felt peace, as if something divine was at work.”

Months later, during the COVID-19 lockdown, Caroline decided to begin another novena. “When I took the pregnancy test, it showed positive,” she said with a smile. “I hadn’t taken any special treatment — it was a natural conception.” Her doctor was astonished, calling it an extremely rare occurrence and urging her to take extra care.

For Caroline, the moment was nothing less than divine. “God performed a miracle through Mother Mary’s intercession,” she affirmed. “When science said no, faith said yes.”

The couple’s prayers were answered with the birth of a healthy baby girl — a gift they call their “Velankanni miracle.” “By the grace of Jesus and the intercession of Mother Mary, we were blessed with a daughter,” Caroline said, her voice filled with gratitude.

Today, eight years into her marriage, Caroline’s daughter is four years old and studying in kindergarten. “She is a bright, joyful child,” Caroline said. “Every day I thank Jesus and Mother Mary for her.”

Expressing her heartfelt thanks, Caroline added, “I am deeply grateful to Our Lord and the Blessed Mother for hearing our prayers, and to the diocesan media team for giving me the opportunity to share this testimony.”

Her story, born out of pain and perseverance, is a living testimony that faith can indeed move mountains — and sometimes, even bring forth life where science sees none.
