Youth Retreat Inspires Faith and Fellowship in the Diocese of Belgaum

Belagavi, March 25, 2025 – The Belgaum Diocesan Youth Commission organised a Lenten Youth Retreat at St. Anthony’s Church, Camp Belagavi, on March 16, 2025. Organised as part of the diocese’s ongoing Jubilee Year celebrations, the retreat brought together 210 young participants from the deaneries of Belgaum, Chandgad, and Khanapur for a transformative spiritual experience. Rev. Fr. Joyson Vas, SJ, led the retreat, which aimed to strengthen the faith of young people through prayer, reflection, and fellowship. The event provided an opportunity for participants to disconnect from distractions and deepen their relationship with God.

The retreat was organised in response to the growing need among young people to find meaning and direction in their lives. In a world filled with conflicting values, the event created a safe space for them to explore their faith and build strong Christian identities.

Under the leadership of Fr. Agnel Baretto, Secretary of the Youth Commission, the retreat was meticulously planned, ensuring a well-structured programme that was both engaging and spiritually enriching.

The retreat featured inspiring talks by Rev. Fr. Joyson Vas SJ, who shared deep spiritual insights and practical guidance for the youth to navigate their faith journey. Fr. Joyson spoke on "The Importance of Scripture and the Eucharist in Christian Life" and "Pilgrims of Hope". His thought-provoking sessions addressed faith, identity, relationships, and Christian values in the modern world.

The retreat also featured praise and worship sessions, Eucharistic Adoration, Confession, and a Eucharistic celebration, allowing participants to experience moments of grace and spiritual renewal.

In addition to spiritual activities, the retreat included action songs, team-building exercises, and interactive sessions that fostered fellowship among the youth. Youth leaders such as Mr Victor and Crison engaged participants in praise and worship, enhancing the retreat's vibrant atmosphere.

The event concluded with a renewed commitment among the youth to live as faithful disciples of Christ. Their enthusiasm and active participation demonstrated their deep desire to grow in faith. The organisers of the retreat expressed gratitude to the Youth Commission, Rev. Fr. Joyson Vas, and all volunteers who contributed to making the retreat a success.
