Jubilee Year Walk of Penance Organised by Our Lady of Vailankanni Church, Bhadravathi

Bhadravathi, Karnataka, March 24, 2025 – The Parish Youth and BEC Commission of Our Lady of Vailankanni Church, Gandhinagar (Old Town), Bhadravathi, organised a Jubilee Year 'Walk of Penance' on Sunday, March 23, 2025. A total of 120 participants, including the parish priest, nuns, youth, children, and adults, took part in the pilgrimage from their parish to St. Anthony’s Church, Karehalli. The event, held under the theme Prayaschittada Nadige Karehalli Kade (Tapassu Kalada Nadige Karehalliya Kadege), aimed to foster reflection and spiritual renewal among the participants.

The walk was inaugurated with a short prayer led by the parish priest at the church grounds. After the prayer, all the participants embarked on their journey of penance. The walk culminated at St. Anthony’s Church, Karehalli.

Upon arrival, the pilgrims were warmly welcomed by Fr. Santhosh Almeida, the parish priest of Karehalli Parish, along with members of the Parish Pastoral Council. They were offered refreshments before participating in a solemn prayer service led by Fr. Almeida. During the service, the faithful received plenary indulgences, further deepening their Lenten observance.

The Walk of Penance served as a powerful expression of faith and unity, allowing participants to strengthen their spiritual commitment. The event concluded on a blessed note, leaving the faithful enriched in their Lenten journey.
