Gulbarga, 26 March, 2025 – The spirit of faith and unity filled St. Mary’s Church, Mother Teresa Hall, as 90 women from Gulbarga Deanery gathered for a grand Jubilee Celebration on 23 March. Themed "Women in the Pilgrimage of Hope," the event highlighted the vital role of women in family, Church, and society.
Most Rev. Bishop Robert Miranda delivered an inspiring address, emphasising the significance of the women’s convention. Women from Chittapur Parish brought the theme to life through expressive movements accompanying the Jubilee Song.
Sr. Simprosa BS, the keynote speaker, captivated the audience with her insights on women’s role in strengthening families, the Church, and society.
The highlight of the day was the Eucharistic Celebration, featuring a dramatic portrayal of biblical scenes, including Eve in the Garden of Eden, the Angel appearing to Mary, and the Disciples with Jesus. Women, holding lights with deep devotion, led the entrance procession, symbolising their journey of faith and empowerment.
Bishop Robert Miranda, along with Vicar General Rev. Fr. Stany and Dean Fr. Praveen, presided over the solemn Mass. In his homily, the Bishop emphasised God’s compassion, calling both men and women to transform their families, the Church, and society. The Bethany Sisters and Fr. Vincent Pereira enhanced the celebration with their melodious choir.
After Mass, Mrs. Irene Nazareth shared her faith journey, reflecting on how Catholic values shaped her life. Cultural performances followed, including a skit on the Visitation by Shahabad Parish women and a joyful dance by Sedam Parish participants. Winners of the Rangoli and Devotional Songs Competitions were honoured.
In his concluding address, Bishop Miranda expressed hope that the convention would ignite a renewed spiritual zeal among women. He thanked Sr. Maria Reetha, Diocesan Secretary for the Women’s Commission, along with Sr. Daisy, Ms. Yashodha, and all coordinators.
The Jubilee Celebration was a cherished milestone of faith, hope, and sisterhood for the women of Gulbarga Diocese.
