Feast of St. Joseph Celebrated in the Diocese of Jalandhar with an Enthralling Qawwali Competition

Ferozepur Cantt., Jalandhar, March 22, 2025— The Diocese of Jalandhar in Punjab joyously celebrated Yusuf Sena Day and the Feast of St. Joseph with a vibrant Qawwali competition at St. Joseph Catholic Church, Ferozepur Cantt., on March 19, 2025. Organized by Fr. Emmanuel Mattu, the diocesan director of Yusuf Sena, the event brought together six teams from various parishes in a spirit of unity and healthy competition. The event was graced by the esteemed presence of Bishop Emeritus John Thomas Kattrukudiyil of Itanagar, who served as the chief guest.

Founded by Fr. Michael Ani, the Episcopal Vicar and Dean of Ferozepur Cantt, Yusuf Sena upholds the values of righteousness, faithfulness, and devotion to God's word—mirroring the example of St. Joseph, the patron saint of workers and families. The Qawwali competition, held as part of the diocese’s jubilee year celebrations, provided a platform to showcase the community’s rich cultural heritage and deep-rooted faith.

In his keynote address, Bishop Emeritus John Thomas Kattrukudiyil uplifted the spirit of the participants with his inspiring words.

A panel of three distinguished judges evaluated the performances of the Qawwali Competition. After a series of soul-stirring renditions, the Yusuf Sena team from Lambhapind Parish was declared the winner of first place, followed by Ferozepur City Parish in second and Gulamiwala Parish in third.

The event fostered camaraderie and spiritual brotherhood among married men in the diocese, strengthening their commitment to faith and community spirit.
