TCBC Commissions for Ecumenism and Dialogue Hold Regional Meeting in Vijayawada

Vijayawada, November 7, 2025 — The TCBC Commissions for Ecumenism and Dialogue convened a two-day meeting of Diocesan Directors from the Telugu region on 3–4 November 2025 at the Bishop’s House, Vijayawada. The meeting was held under the chairmanship of Anthony Das Pilli, Coadjutor Bishop of Nellore.

Two significant themes formed the core of the discussions: “The Relevance of the Nicean Council Today”—marking the 1700th anniversary of the historic council—and “Collaborating with Dharmic Jan Morcha (DJM)”, an interreligious movement committed to fostering peace and harmony in society. Representatives from DJM were specially invited to present their mission, aims, and objectives, facilitating deeper understanding and collaboration between faith communities.

T. Joseph Raja Rao, Bishop of Vijayawada, graced the occasion as the chief guest. In his address, he shared his pastoral experiences and encouraged diocesan directors to engage in practical ecumenism, nurturing genuine and cordial relationships with people of other faith traditions.

The meeting also reviewed various ecumenical and interreligious initiatives currently underway across the Telugu dioceses. Participants reflected on the progress made and collectively formulated a suitable action plan to strengthen dialogue and cooperation among Christian communities and other religions.

Describing the gathering as “a very fruitful and grace-filled conversation,” Fr. Anthaiah Kondaveeti, Secretary of the Commission, expressed gratitude for the active participation and shared commitment of all present in advancing the Church’s mission of unity and peace.
