Vatican City ,7 November , 2025: Pope Leo XIV addressed members of the Advisory Board of the RCS Academy, a higher education institution specialising in journalism, economics, communication and enterprise, during their meeting in Rome. He encouraged the board to orient their work towards the common good, warning against practices that dehumanise or manipulate others.
He acknowledged the Academy’s exploration of a “new humanism in the digital age” and highlighted the importance of dialogue on the ethics of artificial intelligence and responsible communication. “Education … is what makes active and transformative the equal dignity of all human beings, promoting an effective local and global citizenship,” he said.
The Pope cautioned that communication must not become a system of algorithms that reproduces reasonings without conscience or awareness. He added that entrepreneurs and communicators must ensure transparency, accountability, quality and clarity in their work, in order to protect human dignity and avoid exploitation or falsehood presented as truth.
He posed challenging questions for reflection: “Where are we going? For whom and for what are we working? In what way are we making the world better?” He urged board members to avoid becoming mere cogs in machinery and to commit to mission-driven enterprise rather than self-interest.
