Spain's Sagrada Família Becomes World’s Tallest Church

Barcelona, Nocember 7, 2025: The Sagrada Família has officially become the tallest church in the world, reaching a height of 162.91 metres and surpassing Germany’s Ulmer Münster (161.53 metres). 


This milestone was achieved with the installation of a 24-tonne base for the cross atop the basilica’s central “Tower of Jesus Christ”. Once the full cross and tower are complete, the height is expected to reach approximately 172 metres. 

Construction of the landmark began in 1882 under architect Antoni Gaudí and continues today.
