Guwahati, 10 March, 2025: St. Clare's Convent Senior Secondary School in Borjhar, Assam, marked International Women's Day 2025 on March 7 with a vibrant celebration centred around the theme "For ALL Women and Girls: Rights, Equality, and Empowerment."
The event, organised in collaboration with the Social Action for Human Rights (SAFHR) and supported by Manos Unidas, Spain, aimed to acknowledge the important roles of women in society and encourage discourse on gender equality and empowerment.
Reflections from educators Mr. Rajesh and Mr. Shameen highlighted the historical significance of International Women's Day, underscoring the need for stronger advocacy for women's rights.
The event showcased the talents of the younger generation, with children from St. Clare's Home presenting a prayer dance, symbolising hope and a collective aspiration for women's empowerment worldwide. A captivating dance routine and a video skit produced by male teachers of St. Clare's Convent further highlighted key issues regarding women's rights and gender equality.
Director of SAFHR, Sr. Shobha KP, delivered the keynote address, focusing on the ongoing challenges faced by women and the importance of their contributions in various roles. The celebration also included interactive segments, adding a light-hearted touch to the occasion.
Sr. Malar Kodi, Principal of St. Clare's Convent, recognised the vital contributions of female educators in shaping young minds and fostering an inclusive environment.
The celebration was a testament to the school's commitment to empowering women and promoting gender equality and served as a reminder of the importance of continued advocacy for women's rights.
