Vasai, March 10, 2025 – The Remedy Youth Group (RYG) of the Diocese of Vasai organised a hands-on Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR) training program at the Shrine of Our Lady of Remedies Church Hall, Vasai, on March 9. Sponsored by the Pan Marketing Society, the session was attended by 49 parishioners and led by Ms. Deena Prince, founder of Amicus Vitae, along with her team. The training session aimed to equip participants with life-saving skills in CPR, Automated External Defibrillator (AED) usage, and choking relief. The event was graced by the presence of Fr. Eric Alphanso, Fr. John Cusher, and Fr. Morgan Fernandes.
The program commenced with a prayer led by the three priests in attendance, setting a solemn and reflective tone for the session. Ms. Prince and her team structured the training into three key modules: performing CPR, using an AED, and responding to choking incidents.
The training session commenced with participants first viewing an informative video by the American Heart Association. The video highlighted the importance of CPR and clarified the distinction between a heart attack and cardiac arrest. Following this, attendees engaged in practical training using manikins, ensuring hands-on experience in performing CPR effectively.
Key takeaways from the session included the significance of immediate CPR in emergencies, the critical difference between heart attacks and cardiac arrests, and the ease with which anyone can learn and apply this life-saving technique.
The program greatly helped in equipping attendees with essential life-saving skills. Organisers extended gratitude to the sponsors, trainers, priests, and the RYG core team for their efforts in making the event a success.
