Jaipur, March 10, 2025: The Diocese of Jaipur marked International Women's Day and the Jubilee of Women with a grand celebration on March 9 at the Pastoral Centre in Ghat Gate. The event was attended by 350–400 people, including clergy, religious sisters, lay leaders, and guests from various dioceses. Honourable Chairperson of Rajasthan State Mahila Ayog, Mrs. Rehana Riyaz Chishti, graced the occasion as the chief guest. The celebration aimed to honour women’s contributions to the Church and society, promote gender equality, and inspire leadership.
The event commenced with a Holy Mass, presided over by Most Rev. Joseph Kallarackal, Bishop of Jaipur Diocese, alongside Fr. Jaypal, Fr. Enoch, and Fr. Vishal. In his homily, Bishop Kallarackal emphasised the dignity and vital role of women in the Church, referencing the inspirational biblical figures of Mary, Esther, and Ruth. Women from different parish groups animated the liturgy of the Mass.
Following the Mass, Diocesan President Ms. Neelam Chopra delivered the welcome address, applauding the contributions of women in various ministries and encouraging them to embrace their calling. Bishop Kallarackal delivered the keynote address, entitled "Empowering Women for a Sustainable Future." His speech highlighted the challenges and successes of women in leadership, family, and ministry.
A significant session titled “Women as Pilgrims of Hope in the Church” was led by Rev. Fr. Ronald Fernandes, Director of the Bible Commission. In his session, he shed light on how women can overcome barriers to leadership in both Church and society.
Honouring Women’s Contributions
An award ceremony recognised outstanding women from the diocese with honours in three categories: Rising Star of the Year Award, Community Builder of the Year Award, and Lifetime Achievement Award.
Additionally, certificates of appreciation were awarded to several women for their contributions to the diocese in the areas of pastoral work, education, healthcare, and charity. A special honour was given to the pioneers who established the Women’s Commission of Jaipur three decades ago.
The Women's Commission of Jaipur also organised an Inter-Parish Tableau Competition, themed "Women as Pilgrims of Hope in the Church." Several parishes that participated in the Tableau competition showcased artistic performances reflecting cultural heritage and women’s contributions to faith and society.
As part of the diocese's outreach efforts, 30 widows from the diocese received dry ration kits. The event concluded with a vote of thanks from the diocesan secretary, followed by a final prayer and blessing. A sumptuous lunch was served to all 400 attendees, marking the end of a successful and inspiring celebration.
