Pope Leo XIV welcomes ceasefire between India and Pakistan

Vatican, 11th May 2025: Pope Leo XIV praised the ceasefire between India and Pakistan and expressed his prayers to God for the world to receive the "miracle of peace."

In his first Sunday address to the crowds in St. Peter's Square since his election as pontiff, Pope Leo XIV called on the world’s major powers for "no more war."

The newly elected pope, who assumed office on May 8, also urged for "authentic and lasting peace" in Ukraine, a ceasefire in Gaza, and the release of all Israeli hostages.
