January 26 marks the 6th ‘Sunday of the Word of God’ in the Jubilee Year celebration

Rome, December 4, 2024: The Catholic Church on January 26, will observe the 6th ‘Sunday of the Word of God,’ a celebration introduced by Pope Francis to emphasize the central role of the Word of God in the daily lives of Christian communities. This year’s celebration will be especially significant as it coincides with the Jubilee Year. The event will be marked worldwide, with dioceses across the globe joining in this pastoral initiative. Pope Francis will preside over the Mass at St. Peter’s Basilica, which will also coincide with the first great Jubilee of the World of Communication.

The theme for the 2025 celebration is drawn from Psalm 119: "I hope in your Word." Archbishop Rino Fisichella, Pro-prefect of the Dicastery for Evangelization, highlighted that the motto represents a "cry of hope" for all believers facing moments of tribulation and uncertainty. He encouraged the faithful to place their trust and hope in God's Word.

To assist in the preparation for this important event, the Dicastery for Evangelization has released a liturgical-pastoral guide, available for free online in multiple languages, including Italian, English, Spanish, French, Portuguese, and Polish. The guide aims to support parishes and dioceses in celebrating this day of devotion.
