Fr. Umesh Tigga CMI Passes Away in Tragic Road Accident

Chattisgarh, December 4, 2024: Rev. Fr. Umesh Tigga CMI, 33, of the CMI Nirmal Province, Jagdalpur, was tragically killed in a road accident around 10 p.m. on Monday, December 2, 2024. The young priest, who hailed from Ludeg parish in the Diocese of Jashpur, had been ordained less than two years ago on December 29, 2022.

Born on June 14, 1991, Fr. Tigga made his First Profession on December 8, 2012 and his Final Profession on June 6, 2020. He was a dedicated member of his community and known for his deep commitment to his vocation.

His mortal remains will arrive at Vinayalaya Novitiate, Bhanpuri, on tuesday afternoon and will be transferred to Nirmal Aram, Naktisemra, in the evening. The first part of the funeral service will take place at Vinayalaya Novitiate this evening, December 3, 2024. The final rites will be held on Wednesday, December 4 at 2 p.m. at Nirmal Aram, Naktisemra.

The Church mourns the loss of a young and zealous priest whose life was dedicated to the service of God and His people.
