Bhagalpur, December 3, 2024: On Friday, 29 November 2024, the Diocese of Bhagalpur, in collaboration with the Diocese of Purnea, hosted a significant joint clergy-religious meeting at the Bishop's House campus in Bhagalpur. The event, attended by 185 participants, marked a key step in the dioceses’ preparations for the upcoming Jubilee 2025 celebrations. The gathering focused on strengthening the dioceses' shared commitment to the themes of hope, renewal, and solidarity that will define the Jubilee year.
His Excellency Most Rev. Kurien Validakandathil, Bishop of Bhagalpur, delivered an inspiring keynote address at the event, urging attendees to embrace hope as a central part of their journey towards Jubilee 2025. He emphasized, “In fact, often we strive for hope; hope becomes a distant cry. During the Jubilee 2025, let us, individually and collectively, become persons of hope, and be ready to walk with each other with lateral bonding.”
The meeting also provided an opportunity for participants to familiarize themselves with three key frameworks: the Final Document of the Synod, the Jubilee 2025 Preparations and Celebrations, and the CCBI Pastoral Plan Mission 2033. These frameworks provided a structured approach to ensure effective collaboration between the dioceses and a unified celebration of the Jubilee.
Rev. Prof. Dr. Yesu Karunanidhi skillfully facilitated the sessions of the meeting, with key diocesan leaders, including Msgr. Andreas Marandi, Vicar General of Bhagalpur; Rev. Fr. Enoch Macwan, Bhagalpur Diocesan Contact Person for Jubilee 2025; and Rev. Fr. Anil Lugun, Purnea Diocesan Contact Person for Jubilee 2025, coordinating the event.
The gathering was a crucial milestone for the Diocese of Bhagalpur and the Diocese of Purnea, in their preparation for Jubilee 2025, fostering a spirit of unity and shared mission. As both dioceses move forward with renewed focus and purpose, they are poised to celebrate the Jubilee with a collective spirit of hope and solidarity.
