Catholic Bishops’ Conference of India Expresses Solidarity with Myanmar After Devastating Earthquake

New Delhi, March 28, 2025 – The Catholic Bishops’ Conference of India (CBCI) has expressed profound sorrow over the tragic loss of life and widespread destruction caused by the powerful earthquake that struck Myanmar and Thailand on Friday. With many lives lost and numerous individuals still missing, the scale of suffering remains immense. In response, the CBCI has called for collective prayers and solidarity, urging humanitarian efforts to support those in distress.


In an official statement released Friday evening, the CBCI extended its heartfelt condolences to the families of those affected by the earthquake and offered prayers for the repose of the souls who perished. The bishops also prayed for the speedy recovery of the injured and the well-being of those displaced by the catastrophe.


Emphasising the importance of unity in times of crisis, the CBCI urged citizens across India to stand in solidarity with the people of Myanmar and Thailand, offering both moral and spiritual support. The organisation expressed hope that humanitarian aid would be swiftly mobilised to provide much-needed relief to those affected.
