Tesophenyu, Kohima, 1 April, 2025 - The Young Catholic Students (YCS) Orientation Programme for St. Peter’s Catholic Church, Tesophenyu, and St. Joseph’s Parish, Tseminyu, was successfully conducted on Sunday, 30 March 2025, at St. Peter’s Catholic Church, Tesophenyu.
The event commenced with an opening prayer led by Fr. John Kavas, Centre In-charge. Angelina, YCS Animator from SFS Parish, provided an insightful introduction to the YCS movement.
Sr. Mariyam, MSMHC, Lady Animator of the Nagaland Catholic Youth Movement (NCYM) and YCS Coordinator for Kohima Diocese, led the first session on “YCS and Its Relevance.” Following a short break, participants engaged in a session on Cell Meetings, which included group discussions and report presentations by group secretaries.
Silvia, YCS Animator from SFS Parish, Kohima, chaired the programme. A total of 47 students took part, alongside NCYM executives, former NCYM executive Sir Paul Magh, catechism teachers, animators, sisters, and parish leaders.
The orientation provided a valuable platform for young Catholics to deepen their understanding of YCS and its role in their spiritual and communal lives. The interactive discussions and presentations encouraged active participation and strengthened the sense of unity among attendees.
The event concluded on a positive note, leaving participants inspired and equipped with a renewed commitment to their faith and leadership roles within their communities.
