Call for Immediate Issuance of Evicts Cards for Moolampilly Package Beneficiaries

Ernakulam, 11 May, 2025 - The Kerala Catholic Youth Movement (KCYM) of the Verapoly Archdiocese has urged the government to expedite the issuance of Evicts cards to those included in the Moolampilly rehabilitation package on 9 May. The demand was made during a discussion organised under the Social-Political Academy recently launched by KCYM Verapoly.

The event was inaugurated by Prof. K. Aravindakshan, former principal of Maharaja’s College, who emphasised the importance of recognising the long-standing struggles of the displaced families of Moolampilly. The discussion highlighted the critical role of Evicts cards in ensuring priority access to various government schemes and benefits for the rehabilitated families.

KCYM Verapoly Archdiocese President Rajeev Patric presided over the meeting, while Francis Kaluthangal, General Convener of the Moolampilly Rehabilitation Package Coordination Committee, led the discussion. He reiterated the need for swift action from authorities, noting that many affected families continue to face hardships due to bureaucratic delays.

Fr. Sebastian Munnukuttingal, Vicar of Moolampilly Parish, and Fr. Raphael Shinoj Arancherry, Director of KCYM Verapoly Archdiocese, also addressed the gathering. They called for a compassionate and time-bound approach to delivering justice to the displaced.

Other notable attendees included Treasurer Joyson P.J., Vice President Dilma Mathew, Chathyath Region Youth Councillor Antony Felix, and Moolampilly Unit Secretary Febin Augustine, alongside various unit office bearers.

The KCYM Verapoly Archdiocese continues to stand in solidarity with the Moolampilly community and has pledged ongoing support until all promised rehabilitation measures are fully implemented.
