Youth of Mangaluru Renew Faith at Two-Day Retreat

Manguluru, November 13, 2025 : ICYM Central Council, diocese of Mangalore, together with ICYM Suratkal deanery and the Youth Commission of the diocese, organised a two-day faith renewal programme on 8 and 9 November 2025 at the Divine Retreat Centre, Mulki. The gathering brought together youth from across the diocese for prayer, reflection, worship, and fellowship.

Fr Ashwin Cardoza presented an overview of the event’s purpose, emphasising faith formation and personal renewal. The evening continued with hymns by the Echoes of Zion band, followed by a Way of Adoration led by Fr Abraham. Youth holding lighted candles prayed at three stations for those struggling with addictions, illness, and personal challenges. They also sought the intercession of St Carlo Acutis. A Bible Magic Show by Fr Ivan Madtha added a creative dimension to the experience.

The Eucharistic celebration presided over by Fr Praveen D’Souza marked the spiritual high point of the programme, with the youth participating actively. After the Mass, a Peace Rally was flagged off by police head constable Joyce D’Souza, with participants carrying placards promoting peace and unity.

Competitions held in connection with the event saw the Kulur, Mukka, and Belthangady units winning the Jury Awards for the Reel Making Competition, while the Public Choice Award went to the Kulur Unit. ICYM Moodbidri Unit and ICYM Kulur Unit jointly received the Highest Unit Registration Award, with Episcopal City deanery and Moodbidri deanery securing the Highest deanery Registration Award.

The two-day youth encounter concluded with a renewed spirit of unity, gratitude, and deeper commitment to Christian living.
