Goa, August 21, 2025: St. Theresa High School, Sto. Estevam, in collaboration with its Parent-Teacher Association (PTA), hosted the third edition of Worldly Wits 3.0, an inter-school social science quiz for schools across Ilhas taluka. Designed as more than a competition, the event encouraged young minds to explore and engage with the world of social sciences.
The programme opened with a prayer dance and floral welcome. Chief Guest Rev. Fr. Andrew Silveira unveiled the official logo in the presence of Headmistress Sr. Liberata Fernandes, Manager Sr. Hilda Lopes, PTA chairperson Maria Acklin, special guest Sr. Molly Fernandes, Directress of Holy Family Communications Centre (HOFCOM), quiz masters, staff and students.
In his welcome address, former PTA chairperson Mr Sunil remarked that “a spark has turned into a flame,” noting the participation of 12 schools this year. Teacher-anchor Swizel Fernandes explained that the logo reflected knowledge, creativity and a global outlook. Its elements included paper mache rocks symbolising society’s foundations, a globe denoting interconnectedness, two figures representing changemakers, a quiz bubble highlighting discovery, and a parliamentary house grounding learning in real-world impact.
The contest comprised five challenging rounds: Trade Your Choice (MCQ), Basin Showdown Maze with dice-based map challenges, Voices and Visions (audio-visual), Terra-Oceanic Spinner Round and Brain Blitz (rapid-fire). Teachers Antonieta Dias and Franzia Pereira conducted the preliminary rounds, from which six schools advanced. All participants received certificates and trophies, with the winners earning additional honours.
Chief Guest Fr. Silveira engaged the audience with a short quiz, rewarding correct answers with chocolates, and encouraged students to excel in academics and beyond. Headmistress Sr. Fernandes applauded the enthusiasm of students and urged them to remain aware of current events.
The final results were:
Participants described the event as both inspiring and educational.
