Indore, 4 April 2025 – Satprakashan Kendra, in collaboration with Radio Veritas Asia (RVA) Hindi Service, organised a special Holy Eucharistic Celebration and prayer service for the victims of the devastating earthquake in Myanmar and Thailand. The service at Satprakashan Kendra, Indore, brought together all staff members in prayerful remembrance of those who lost their lives and those still suffering in the aftermath.
As part of a broader spiritual campaign, RVA led similar prayer services across Asia, uniting people of faith in a collective call for healing and hope.
Fr. Cyriac Peter SVD, Director of Satprakashan, presided over the Holy Mass as the main celebrant. In his homily, he highlighted humanity’s interconnectedness, stating, “As human beings, we are one family under God. When one part suffers, we all feel the pain. Life is a sacred gift, and we must hold every life in reverence and compassion.”
Citing Scripture, he comforted attendees with Psalm 34:18: “The Lord is close to the brokenhearted and saves those who are crushed in spirit.” He urged the faithful to pray for those who grieve and those rebuilding their lives after the disaster.
Referencing Romans 12:15, “Rejoice with those who rejoice, mourn with those who mourn,” Fr. Cyriac underscored the Christian duty to support the afflicted beyond geographical and national boundaries. “The people of Myanmar and Thailand are enduring immense suffering,” he said. “As members of a universal Church, we must be their voice in prayer and their strength in spirit.”
The entire Satprakashan staff attended the service, offering heartfelt intercessions for the victims and survivors. Their united presence reflected a shared sense of mourning and hope.
After the Eucharistic celebration, participants laid flowers in silence to honour those who perished in the earthquake. The floral tribute symbolised respect, love, and remembrance.
The prayer service at Satprakashan was more than an event—it was a profound act of spiritual solidarity. It reminded the world that in times of sorrow, faith bridges the gap to healing, and compassion becomes a beacon in the darkness.
As Myanmar and Thailand recover, the faithful hold onto the promise of Matthew 5:4: “Blessed are those who mourn, for they shall be comforted.”
