Manipur, 25 Sept, 2025: The North Eastern Regional Youth Commission (NERYC–ICYM NE), in collaboration with the Manipur Catholic Youth Organisation (MCYO), organised the Catholic Youth Meet 2025 at Don Bosco Higher Secondary School, Churachandpur, and Good Shepherd Parish, Lamka. Held from September 20 - 22, under the theme “Pilgrims of Hope”, the gathering brought together Catholic youth from Churachandpur, Pherzawl, Moreh, and neighbouring regions, fostering faith, friendship, and inspiration after the challenges of 2023.
The Meet drew over 400 young participants from multiple parishes, including seven priests, Sr. Wansuk Lyngdoh RLYA, NERYC President Mr. Jonah Huimingam, four resource persons, and 12 MCYO executives.
The inaugural programme was led by MCYO, setting a prayerful and lively tone. Newly elected executives of the Churachandpur District Catholic Youth Organisation (CDCYO) took their oath of office, pledging to serve youth faithfully in Christ. A Host Night showcased songs, dances, and cultural performances, celebrating the rich traditions and creativity of the Kuki-Zo communities.
Throughout the gathering, participants engaged in sessions on faith, contemporary societal concerns, and youth leadership. Fr. John Barman, MSFS, encouraged youth to face challenges with trust in God, while Fr. Paul Lelen and retired BSF Deputy Commandant Mr. Andrew Lalpi addressed societal issues and opportunities for young people. A career guidance session by Mr. Chris Leonard Barnard of Insights IAS Coaching, Guwahati, further empowered participants to plan for their futures.
Creative and cultural activities, including a Choreography Competition, ice-breaking exercises, and faith-sharing sessions, highlighted the leadership, enthusiasm, and unity of the young Catholics. Holy Masses animated by parish choirs and Adoration services offered moments of spiritual reflection, prayer, and gratitude.
The gathering concluded with a final Mass that united all participants in celebration and thanksgiving. The Meet proved to be more than an event—it was an experience of empowerment, fellowship, and renewed hope, leaving lasting memories of prayer, music, learning, and joyful companionship.
