Borda, Goa, 25 Sept, 2025 — The Interfaith Dialogue & Cultural Diversity Cell of the Government College of Commerce and Economics (Autonomous), Borda, in collaboration with Sadbhav, Pilar, hosted ASTHA – A Celebration of Faith & Harmony to foster mutual respect, understanding, and peaceful coexistence among students and faculty. The event centred on the theme “Forgiveness Across Faiths: Building Bridges Through Interreligious Dialogue”, bringing together diverse voices to explore forgiveness as a practical pathway to harmony on campus and beyond.
Principal Prof. (Dr.) F. M. Nadaf delivered a welcome address that set a reflective and inclusive tone. Dr. Fr. Evis Fernandes emphasised forgiveness as a shared ethical principle across religions and encouraged participants to view reconciliation as a courageous act in everyday life.
Speakers Ms. Faiza Fathima, Ms. Radha Kavlekar, and Ms. Nyula Rodrigues shared personal insights and experiences, linking interfaith teachings to student life. They discussed resolving peer conflicts with compassion, addressing bias through dialogue, and finding the courage to apologise and rebuild trust. Their reflections framed forgiveness as an active commitment to justice, empathy, and reconciliation, strengthening community bonds.
A vibrant dance performance provided a cultural interlude, symbolising unity in diversity and highlighting the power of art to foster connection. Interactive sessions encouraged students to share questions and perspectives, reinforcing the importance of listening across differences and recognising every individual’s dignity.
The event emphasised the practical impact of interfaith dialogue, inspiring students and faculty to embrace forgiveness, foster understanding, and strengthen harmony in their daily interactions.
