Lenten Taizé Prayer Service Held at St. Lawrence Church, Moodubelle, Udupi

Moodubelle, Udupi, March 31, 2025 – The Moodubelle unit of the Indian Catholic Youth Movement (ICYM) organised a spiritually uplifting Lenten Taizé Prayer service at St. Lawrence Church, Moodubelle, on Sunday evening. Held as part of the unit’s Lenten initiatives, the prayer service aimed to bring the community together in reflection and devotion, fostering inner peace and spiritual renewal.More than 250 individuals participated in the meditative worship, which featured soulful chants and moments of deep prayer.

The Revelations Choir Group, led by Dr. Suraj Noronha, guided the service with melodious singing and heartfelt worship. Their soothing chants created a serene atmosphere, allowing attendees to disconnect from daily worries and immerse themselves in prayer. Known for its simplicity and repetitive chants, the Taizé Prayer provided a meaningful way for devotees to deepen their faith during this sacred season of Lent.

A poignant moment of the evening came when the cross was placed at the centre of the gathering, inviting attendees to kneel and offer personal prayers. This act of surrender and contemplation served as a powerful reminder of Christ’s journey and the call to grow in faith and love. Many found solace and strength in this quiet, sacred moment.

Following the hour-long service, members of ICYM Moodubelle served refreshments to all the attendees, reinforcing the spirit of community and fellowship. Assistant Parish Priest Fr. Rikson Monteiro commended the youth group for their dedication in organising the event and expressed gratitude to the Revelations Choir Group for their inspiring contribution. As a token of appreciation, he presented them with a memento.

The Taizé Prayer service stood as a testament to the power of collective worship in deepening faith and strengthening community bonds. With an overwhelming response from parishioners, the event reaffirmed the significance of Lenten devotion and the vital role of youth in fostering spiritual growth.
