The Catholic Bishops’ Conference of India (CBCI) will host its Christmas celebrations for 2025 on December 18 at 6.00 pm at the CBCI Centre, New Delhi. The Hon’ble Vice President of India, Shri C. P. Radhakrishnan, will attend the event as the Chief Guest.
The CBCI continues its tradition of welcoming national leaders to its annual Christmas gathering. In 2024, the celebrations were graced by the Hon’ble Prime Minister of India, Shri Narendra Modi, who attended as the Chief Guest.
Several distinguished guests will be present at the 2025 celebrations, including the Hon’ble Governor of West Bengal, Dr. C. V. Ananda Bose, and the Apostolic Nuncio to India and Nepal, Archbishop Leopoldo Girelli. Their presence underscores the national and ecclesial significance of the occasion.
The programme will be presided over by the President of the CBCI and Archbishop of Thrissur, Dr. Andrews Thazhath. The Secretary General of the CBCI and Archbishop of Delhi, Most Rev. Dr Anil Couto, will deliver the welcome address. The Deputy Secretary General of the CBCI, Dr. Mathew Koyickal, will propose the vote of thanks.
Cardinals, Archbishops, Bishops, Ambassadors, religious leaders and other eminent personalities from various walks of life are also expected to attend the celebrations, reflecting the inclusive and collaborative spirit of the event.
The CBCI Christmas celebrations serve as a platform for fellowship, dialogue and goodwill, bringing together Church leadership, representatives of the government and members of civil society to mark the joy and message of Christmas.
