Siunaguda, Nabarangpur, 31 March, 2025– Two Christian families have been forced to flee their homes due to escalating persecution and repeated death threats from local villagers. Since 28th March, the families have been taking refuge with their relatives in a neighbouring village, fearing for their safety.
In response to a police summons for an investigation, the displaced families, along with other Christian families from nearby villages, reported to the local police station at 2:00 PM. However, the opposing parties failed to appear, resulting in the police dismissing the families and instructing them to return on 2nd April for further proceedings.
A local pastor stated that, despite multiple complaints over the years, law enforcement authorities have consistently failed to take appropriate action. Meanwhile, the incidents of persecution have escalated, putting the affected families in imminent danger. He further emphasised that the families now fear for their lives due to the lack of legal protection and enforcement.
