Buxar Diocese Solemnly Inaugurates Jubilee 2025 in Prayerful Ceremony

Buxar, January 3, 2025: Responding to Pope Francis' call for the Universal Church to mark the Jubilee 2025, the Diocese of Buxar inaugurated the Jubilee Year on December 29, 2024, in a solemn and prayerful ceremony at the Cathedral of Buxar. A large number of the faithful gathered early in the morning to participate in the historic event.

Bishop James Shekhar, who meticulously planned the inauguration months in advance, led the celebration with the support of a diocesan Jubilee committee and parish-level organizers from the Cathedral Parish. The ceremony began with an hour of Eucharistic adoration, followed by the hoisting of the Jubilee flag, the formal declaration of the Jubilee Year and the recitation of Jubilee prayers. The blessing of water and the Jubilee Cross, which was carried in a solemn procession, added to the significance of the occasion. The event concluded with a Solemn Mass.

Fr. Anand, the Cathedral Parish Priest, along with the parish community, ensured the smooth execution of the event. Priests from across the diocese contributed responsibly, fulfilling their respective roles with dedication. The prayerful participation of the faithful created an atmosphere of deep devotion and unity. The Cathedral Parish will now serve as a pilgrim center in the name of Mother of Perpetual Help.

The Diocese of Buxar’s Jubilee inauguration not only reflected heartfelt participation but also set the tone for a year of grace, renewal and celebration for the Catholic community in Bihar.
