In addition to the four main basilicas, there are 13 other churches in Rome to which the faithful can make a pilgrimage in order to receive a plenary indulgence during the jubilee year.

Experiencing the Jubilee Without Pilgrimage to Rome

Those Catholics who are unable to journey to Rome can receive the jubilee plenary indulgence by visiting designated jubilee churches in one’s diocese, as well as designated Marian shrines or basilicas.

For those unable to make a pilgrimage due to serious reasons, the indulgence can still be obtained by reciting prayers like the Our Father and the Profession of Faith, while offering up personal sufferings or hardships in union with the holy year’s objectives.

The plenary indulgence for the jubilee can also be obtained through acts of mercy and penance, such as:

2. Abstaining from “trivial distractions” like social media or excessive consumption for at least one day
