Bhopal Archdiocese Hosts 5th Archbishop Eugene Memorial Badminton Tournament

Bhopal, 23 September 2025: The Archdiocese of Bhopal organised the 5th Regional Archbishop Eugene Memorial Badminton Tournament on 20–21 September 2025 at BSSS College Auditorium, Bhopal, to honour the late Archbishop Eugene. Priests from the dioceses of Madhya Pradesh, Chhattisgarh, and Odisha participated in the two-day event, which combined spirited competition with fellowship and fraternity.

The tournament, now a cherished tradition, celebrated sportsmanship, unity, and brotherhood — values that Archbishop Eugene upheld throughout his life and ministry. Matches showcased the talents and energy of the clergy, while fostering laughter, encouragement, and healthy competition, filling the venue with joy and togetherness.

Archbishop Durairaj SVD commended the organising committee and participants for keeping Archbishop Eugene’s memory alive, noting that the tournament reflected his vision of nurturing bonds through meaningful encounters.

The two-day event concluded with a prize distribution ceremony, where Khandwa Diocese emerged as winners, Ujjain Diocese as first runners-up, and CMI Fathers as second runners-up. Beyond the trophies, the tournament provided a valuable opportunity for clergy to strengthen relationships, foster fellowship, and deepen the spirit of fraternity across dioceses.
