AGARTALA, July 22, 2025 — A one-day youth seminar was organised by Agartala Deanery under the leadership of Fr. Christopher Mary Warlarpih SDB, Dean of Agartala Deanery, and Sr. Aquila Makri FMA, Youth Animator. Held on July 20 at Auxilium Girls’ School, Agartala, the seminar brought together young participants from various parishes under the theme “Growing in Faith, United in Hope.”
Distinguished guests included Sr. Marcellina S. Sangma FMA, Superior of Auxilium Convent Nandan Nagar; Mr. Daniel Debbarma, Salesian Cooperator; and various parish youth animators.
Sr. Marcellina S. Sangma spoke on the topic “Who are we as Catholic?” and “Who am I as a Catholic?” She encouraged the youth to reflect on the privilege of belonging to the Catholic Church and the responsibilities that come with it.
Sharing insights on the Catechism of the Catholic Church, Fr. Pulinthanath Joseph SDB, Director of Peace Centre, Nandan Nagar, explained the foundations of the Catholic faith, especially the four marks of the Church as stated in the Apostles’ Creed: One, Holy, Catholic, and Apostolic. His session helped the youth understand the unique identity of the Catholic Church in comparison to other Christian denominations and encouraged them to know their faith not only to defend it but also as a path to personal salvation.
The Holy Eucharist was celebrated by Fr. Christopher Mary Warlarpih SDB, who, reflecting on the day’s readings, highlighted the importance of hospitality, prayer, and service. He emphasised the need to maintain a balance between work and spiritual life. The celebration was further uplifted by a melodious choir led by the youth of Bishramganj Parish.
Following the Eucharist, new executive members of the Deanery Youth were elected: President: Mr. Bapan Debbarma (Bishramganj Parish); Sport Secretary: Aichuk Debbarma (Cathedral Parish); Treasurer: Mr. Smai Savio Debbarma (Nandan Nagar Parish); Cultural Secretary: Ms. Mathia Debbarma (Nandan Nagar Parish); Secretary: Ms. Patriksha Marcher (Mariam Nagar Parish) and Joint Secretary: Bishal Marcher (Mariam Nagar Parish)
The seminar served as a meaningful opportunity for the youth to deepen their faith, grow in leadership, and strengthen their bond with the Church and one another.
