2nd DEXCO Meeting of ICYM-Diphu Diocese Held at Pastoral Centre in Diphu, Assam

Diphu, Assam, April 28, 2025: The Indian Catholic Youth Movement (ICYM) – Diphu Diocese held its 2nd Diocesan Executive Committee (DEXCO) Meeting at Jirsong Asong, the pastoral centre of the diocese, in Diphu on April 26, 2025. The meeting, organised under the leadership of Mr. Jemson Teron, Diocesan Youth President (DYP), and Rev. Fr. Jonathan Teron, Diocesan Youth Director (DYD), with the support of Secretary Mr. Birlong Tisso, brought together eighty youth leaders from across the diocese to deliberate on key diocesan and regional youth initiatives.

The evening commenced with a solemn Bible Enthronement ceremony, led by Rev. Sr. Wansuk Mary Lyngdoh, MSMHC, the Regional Lady Youth Animator of ICYM-Northeast Region. This was followed by a special farewell ceremony in honour of Pope Francis, led by Rev. Fr. Jonathan Teron. During the ceremony, members of the congregation paid tribute to the late pontiff by offering flowers before his portrait.

After a short welcome address by Rev. Fr. Teron, Rev. Sr. Wansuk shared valuable insights on the effective functioning of ICYM at the parish, diocesan, and regional levels and urged the youth leaders to strengthen their missionary efforts.

The youth leaders then engaged in in-depth discussions on several important topics. Notable among the matters discussed were preparations for the 5th Regional Youth Convention of ICYM-Northeast Region, the 27th ICYM Diocesan Annual Youth Convention, the Annual Youth Retreat, and a Gospel Song Composition Competition. Plans for music classes; activities of the Young Catholic Students/Young Students' Movement (YCS/YSM) in the Northeast Region; MIJARC (International Catholic Rural and Peasant Youth Movement) initiatives; Communio Sunday observances; Parish Youth Conventions; and the upcoming Summer Youth Camp were also thoroughly deliberated.

The meeting concluded with a renewed spirit of commitment, as participants affirmed their dedication to the mission, vision, and values of ICYM within the Diocese of Diphu and the greater Northeast region.
