Exton, Pennsylvania, January 1, 2025 - A new Catholic podcast, The Rosary in a Year, has taken the #1 spot on Apple Podcasts across all categories, surpassing major shows like The Joe Rogan Experience, Dateline, and The Daily. Produced by Ascension Press, a leading Catholic media company, the podcast has amassed hundreds of thousands of downloads since its debut on December 30, 2024.
The podcast, hosted by Fr. Mark-Mary Ames of the Franciscan Friars of the Renewal, offers daily reflections and guided prayers centered on the Catholic Holy Rosary. It aims to deepen the spiritual lives of its listeners over the course of 365 days.
This is Ascension's third “in a Year” podcast to top the Apple charts, following the success of The Bible in a Year (with Fr. Mike Schmitz) and The Catechism in a Year. According to Ascension’s President and CEO, Jonathan Strate, the success of these podcasts reflects a growing cultural desire for spiritual connection and purpose.
Fr. Mark-Mary, a prominent figure in Catholic media, first proposed the concept of doing a podcast based on the Holy Rosary in a December 2021 video on the Ascension Presents YouTube channel. His deep understanding of prayer, demonstrated in his widely viewed Divine Mercy Chaplet and Rosary videos, made him an ideal guide for the project.
The Rosary in a Year podcast builds on the legacy of The Bible in a Year, which remains the #1 global podcast in religion since its launch in 2021 and ranks #9 in all categories on Apple Podcasts. Ascension Press now holds three of the top four spots in the Religion & Spirituality category, further cementing its status as a leader in Catholic digital media.
With The Rosary in a Year reaching the top of the charts, Ascension’s innovative approach to delivering Catholic content continues to resonate with audiences worldwide.
