Sancoale, Goa, January 6, 2025: Novenas for the Solemn Feast of St. Joseph Vaz, the Patron Saint of the Archdiocese of Goa and Daman will be held from January 7 to January 15, 2025. This 9-day novena period will culminate with the celebration of the feast on January 16, 2025. The theme for this year's Novenas and feast is "St. Joseph Vaz - A model to be Evangelizers of the Gospel of Hope”.
From January 7 to 15, there will be Novena masses in the morning at 6 a.m., 7:30 a.m. and 9.15 a.m. These are all deanery-wise masses and will be in Konkani. In the evenings, there will be Novena masses at 4 p.m. in Konkani (deanery-wise mass) and 6 p.m. in English.
On Sunday, January 12, in the morning, there will be masses at 5 a.m., 6 a.m., 7.30 a.m. and 9:15 a.m. These are all deanery-wise masses and will be in Konkani. The mass at 9:15 am will be a special mass for the sick and elderly. In the evening on Sunday, January 12, there will be Novena masses at 2.15 p.m. in Hindi, at 4 p.m. in Konkani (deanery-wise mass), and at 6 p.m. in English.
There will be confessions on all nine days of the Novenas from 6:30 a.m. to 9.15 am. and in the evenings from 3:30 p.m. to 5.30 pm. On the feast day, January 16, 2025, there will be Masses in the mornings at 5:00 a.m., 6.15 a.m. and 8:30 a.m. At 10:00 a.m., the Solemn High Mass for the feast will be celebrated. The mass at the oratory room of Saint Joseph Vaz in Sancoale will be celebrated at noon on the feast day. In the evening, on the feast day, there will be one mass in Konkani at 4:00 p.m. and another mass in English at 5:30 p.m.
Selected masses on all Novena days will be live-streamed on YouTube and on the website of the Archdiocese of Goa and Daman (www.archgoadaman.com). During the days of the Novenas, members of the faithful can venerate the statue and relics of Saint Joseph Vaz at the Saint Joseph Vaz sanctuary in Sancoale.
