Tongana (Dibrugarh), 12 April, 2025 – Around 150 parishioners from St. Dominic Savio Church, Tongana, undertook a spiritual pilgrimage to Christ the Light Cathedral in Miao Diocese, Arunachal Pradesh, on 11 April.
The pilgrims participated in the Stations of the Cross, Adoration of the Blessed Sacrament, individual confessions and Holy Mass – all aimed at deepening their faith during the Christ Jayanti Jubilee year and gaining spiritual indulgences.
Fr. William Horo, parish priest of St Dominic Savio Church, led the group and celebrated the Eucharist at the Cathedral. Concelebrating with him were Fr. K.P. Peter, parish priest of the Cathedral, and Fr. Linus, Rector of Christ Jyoti Minor Seminary. In his homily, Fr. Peter urged the faithful to “rejoice always”, drawing inspiration from the prophet Jeremiah’s unwavering trust in God despite suffering.
Pilgrims from three parishes within the Diocese of Dibrugarh joined the journey, which began with the Way of the Cross, led by the Philobari parish. The faithful ascended a hill barefoot, praying and singing in reverence to the Cross. The day culminated in a heartfelt Mass at the hilltop Cathedral.
Before departure, the Tongana faithful gathered at the parish grotto to pray three Hail Marys and receive words of encouragement from Fr. William Horo, who urged them to “pray for the intentions of Pope Francis and receive the indulgences.”
Travelling by three buses and two smaller vehicles, the pilgrims prayed the Rosary, chanted the Divine Mercy and reflected on Scripture, creating a deeply spiritual atmosphere.
Monica Nag, an elderly participant, said, “If I’m alive, I’ll come again.” A young pilgrim added, “I’ll go on more pilgrimages with other groups.”
The journey strengthened faith and fostered a spirit of unity and devotion.
