St. Albert's College in Ranchi Hosts Interdenominational Seminar on 1700 Anniversary of Nicene Creed

Ranchi, October 16, 2025: St. Albert's College in Ranchi marked a significant milestone today with a one-day interdenominational seminar commemorating the 1700th anniversary of the Nicene Creed. The seminar brought together theological scholars, clergy, and students from various Christian traditions to reflect on the significance of the Nicene Creed in modern times.


The seminar featured keynote addresses and paper presentations on the historical background of the Nicene Creed, its relevance to ecumenical dialogue, and its significance for Christian faith today. Dr. Francis Minj SJ, Dean of RTC (Turoday), Ranchi Jesuit Province, explored the "Background and Historical Trajectory of Nicene Creed," emphasizing that Christianity is a historical religion with roots that can be traced back.


Dr. Suman Kumar Ekka, President of the Faculty of SAC Ranchi, addressed "Understanding of Divinity of Jesus in the Nicene Creed," affirming that the Sonship of Jesus is divine and eternal. Dr. Christ Sumit Abhay Kerketta, Principal of Gossner Theological College, presented "The Nicene Creed and Avenues for Ecumenical Dialogue: An Adivasi Perspective of Jharkhand," highlighting the importance of lived ecology in Adivasi beliefs.


Vibha Archna Kerketta from Nawin Doman Theological College discussed the "Relevance of Nicene Creed for the Christians Today," suggesting a comparison with the Apostles' Creed to understand its unique contributions. Archbishop Vincent Aind of Ranchi praised the seminar, stating that the Nicene Creed "sets the tone for the future of the Church."


The seminar concluded with blessings led by Archbishop Rajiw Satish Toppo of North Western Gossner Evangelical Lutheran Church, Ranchi. The event was organized by St. Albert's College in collaboration with the Faculty of Theology and Religious Studies, demonstrating the commitment to ecumenism and interfaith dialogue.
