Saint Paul Bible College Announces Online Course in Biblical Hebrew

BENGALURU, Sept. 1, 2025: Saint Paul Bible College, in collaboration with the Bible Commission of the Conference of Catholic Bishops of India (CCBI), will be conducting an online course in Biblical Hebrew starting September 3, 2025. The course, which will be delivered via Zoom, aims to enable students and clergy across India to learn the sacred language from the comfort of their homes.

The course is an initiative spearheaded by Most Rev. Dr. Antonysamy Peter Abir, Chairman of the CCBI Bible Commission, and coordinated by Rev. Dr. Patrick Mathias SDB, Executive Secretary of the Commission. Classes will be held every Wednesday and Saturday from 9:00 pm to 10:30 pm, over a span of 15 days.

Fr. Ashwanth Amatraj SDB, Professor at DBTC, Kavarapettai, will teach the course using the Lambdin Method, covering topics such as the Hebrew alphabet, basic grammar and syntax, writing style, selected biblical readings, and essential vocabulary. Participants who complete the course will receive a certificate of completion.

The course fee is Rs. 9,000.
