Rev. Fr. Charles D’Almeida of Allahabad Diocese Passes Away at 81

Prayagraj, April 25, 2025 — The Diocese of Allahabad mourns the passing of Rev. Fr. Charles D’Almeida, who entered eternal rest this morning at 7:45 AM at the age of 81. A dedicated priest and educator, Fr. D’Almeida served the Church and its faithful for over five decades.

Born on January 4, 1944, in Pernal, Karnataka, Fr. D’Almeida was ordained on December 8, 1972. His pastoral journey spanned numerous parishes and institutions, including St. Xavier’s Church in Robertsganj, St. Patrick’s Church in Allahabad, and St. Paul’s Church in Sultanpur. He also held significant roles in education, serving as Headmaster of Divine Providence School in Raebareli and Principal of St. Thomas School in Kidwainagar. 

In his later years, Fr. D’Almeida resided at Vianney Niketan in Prayagraj, continuing his mission of faith and service. His life's motto, "To love and serve the Lord and His people," was evident in his unwavering commitment to the spiritual and educational upliftment of the community.

The Diocese extends its heartfelt condolences to all who knew and loved Fr. D’Almeida. The Funeral is scheduled for Saturday, 26th April, 2025 at 3.00 pm, in St. Joseph’s Cathedral, Prayagraj.
