President Murmu Arrives in Rome to Attend Pope Francis’ Funeral

Rome, 25 April 2025 — President of India Smt. Droupadi Murmu arrived in Vatican City today to attend the funeral of Pope Francis, scheduled for 10:00 am local time (1:30 pm IST) on Saturday, 26 April 2025, at St Peter’s Square. She will represent the Government and people of India in offering condolences and paying respects to the late Pontiff.

President Murmu is leading a high-level delegation that includes Union Minister of Minority Affairs Kiren Rijiju, Union Minister of State for Minority Affairs George Kurian, and Deputy Speaker of the Goa Legislative Assembly Joshua De Souza.

The funeral is expected to draw tens of thousands of mourners, including heads of state and representatives from across the world.
