Bhopal Diocese Marks Requiem Mass & Floral Tribute for Pope Francis

Bhopal, April 25, 2025 – The Archdiocese of Bhopal gathered on April 24, 2025, to honour His Holiness Pope Francis, who passed away on April 21, 2025. A Requiem Mass and Floral Tribute were held at the Co-Cathedral of Our Lady of Assumption Church in Arera Colony, Bhopal, under the leadership of His Grace Archbishop Durairaj SVD.

The Mass was a solemn occasion, marked by hymns, prayers, and Scripture readings that reflected the Pope's teachings. Archbishop Durairaj presided over the celebration, joined by priests, religious, and lay faithful from across the Archdiocese. Following the Mass, a floral tribute was offered in front of an image of Pope Francis, symbolising the deep affection and respect he inspired across all generations.

In his homily, Archbishop Durairaj spoke of the Pope’s legacy, saying, “Pope Francis taught us that love must be lived through action, compassion, and ever welcoming gestures. Today, as we commend his soul to the mercy of God, we commit ourselves to continue his vision of a Church rooted in communion and hope.”

The ceremony was a heartfelt reminder of the unity of the Church and the enduring impact of Pope Francis’ witness. As flowers were offered, prayers were raised for the repose of his soul and for the Church’s continued journey.

May the soul of Pope Francis rest in the peace of Christ, and may his memory continue to inspire future generations with love, humility, and faith.
