Rajanagar’s 23 Villages Come Together for a Solemn Pilgrimage to Miao Cathedral in Arunchal Pradesh

Rajanagar, Nov 22. 2023: Nearly 600 parishioners from St. Joseph Catholic Church, Rajanagar, representing 23 villages, undertook a pilgrimage on a working day to the Cathedral Parish Church of the Miao Diocese in East Arunachal Pradesh, where they journeyed in faith through prayer, confession, and the Eucharist.

The pilgrimage began before dawn with the parish priest’s blessing, after which the faithful set out praying the Rosary in unison across villages and languages—an act that forged a profound sense of communion even before they reached their destination. The pilgrims ascended on foot upon reaching the cathedral hill, praying the Way of the Cross under the guidance of Fr. Joseph Kindo SDB. They were received with pastoral care and gracious hospitality by Fr. K.P. Peter, the Cathedral parish priest, Fr. Linus, the seminary rector, and other priests and seminarians.

The Exposition of the Blessed Sacrament led the congregation into a solemn time of worship and interior preparation. Fr. Linus offered a thoughtful preparation for the Sacrament of Reconciliation, leading lively praise and worship supported by the Kherm Mura Village community while several priests heard confessions.

The Holy Eucharist was celebrated by Fr. K.P. Peter, concelebrated by Fr. Jossy, Fr. Linus, Fr. Joseph Kindo SDB, and Fr. Amalraj SDB. The Rajanagar women led the choir, adding grace and harmony to the liturgy.

Special gratitude was extended to Bishop Emeritus George Pallipparambil SDB, D.D., for his warm encouragement, and to Fr. Joseph Kindo SDB and the parish committee for organizing this spiritually enriching event. This pilgrimage stands as a remarkable testament to faith, unity, and the growing spiritual zeal of Rajanagar Parish.
