Simla-Chandigarh Clergy Embrace Path of Healing and Self-Transformation at Annual Retreat

Simla-Chandigarh, Nov 21, 2025: Renewed focus and a call to self-transformation brought the priests of the Diocese of Simla-Chandigarh together at Vianney Clergy Home, Amloh, from November 16–21, for their Annual Clergy Retreat. The retreat was graced by the presence of two bishops: Bishop Sahaya Thatheus Thomas of Simla-Chandigarh and Bishop Emeritus Ignatius Mascarenhas, and attended by 65 priests.

Fr. Gregory Pinto, SVD, the retreat preacher, led the participants through deeply enriching sessions on the theme: “Journeying into Healing and Self Transformation from a Psycho-Spiritual Perspective.” His reflections offered profound spiritual and psychological insights, inspiring the clergy toward inner healing, personal renewal, and a strengthened commitment to their priestly ministry.

The retreat concluded with a solemn Eucharistic celebration presided over by Bishop Sahaya Thatheus Thomas. Preaching on the Feast of the Presentation of the Blessed Virgin Mary, he presented Mary, the Star of Evangelization, as a model of faithfulness, sacrifice, and availability. He encouraged the clergy to become channels of God’s healing and compassion in building up God’s Kingdom. The Bishop also expressed heartfelt gratitude to Fr. Gregory Pinto for his enriching spiritual guidance.

The serene setting offered an ideal environment for spiritual renewal. Fr. Maria Selvadas expressed appreciation to the retreat preacher and to all who contributed to the smooth and fruitful organization of the retreat. Special acknowledgement was given to Fr. Jeyahar, Director, Clergy Home, Fr. Dominic Bosco, Parish Priest, and their dedicated team for their excellent arrangements.
