Karwar, Karnataka, November 22, 2025: A focused effort to strengthen pastoral vision held at Puneeth Sadan, Shirwad, Karwar, where a two-day seminar on “Evolving a Diocesan Pastoral Plan” gathered Church leaders and collaborators for intensive reflection and planning. The seminar, held on 18 and 19 November 2025, brought together Bishop Gerald Isaac Lobo of Udupi, Chairman of the CCBI National Pastoral Plan Committee, and Fr. Joseph Xavier, the chief resource person. Joining them were Bishop Duming Dias of Karwar, Consultors, Deans, Senate members, Commission Directors, and lay collaborators.
Offering insights on the purpose of the seminar and the significance of a well-structured Diocesan Pastoral Plan, Bishop Duming Dias and Bishop Gerald Lobo set a purposeful tone for the proceedings.
Fr. Joseph Xavier led the sessions, providing an in-depth explanation of the fundamental elements of pastoral planning—identity, mission, vision, and related pastoral dimensions. Participants later formed groups to discuss these themes and present their reflections.
Guiding participants on formulating pastoral goals, setting clear objectives, and developing effective implementation strategies for the various diocesan commissions, Fr. Joseph Xavier directed the next sessions. Groups were formed again to study specific commissions, prepare draft action plans, and present them. The resource person assessed the group work and offered constructive feedback.
At the conclusion of the seminar, Bishop Duming Dias expressed heartfelt gratitude to Bishop Gerald Lobo and Fr. Joseph Xavier for their enriching contributions.
