Bangalore, 8 March, 2025: The Karnataka Jesuit Educational Society (KJES) Youth Works brought together 35 young animators from across Karnataka for a two-day training programme at St. Joseph’s Boys High School on 1–2 March. The sessions focused on leadership, Jesuit values, and community service.
Fr. Joel Fernandes SJ, KJES Youth Director, led an engaging session on group dynamics, encouraging participants to connect and collaborate. Delving into the rich history of the Jesuits, Ms. Lerin Dias and Mr. Merwin Mathias highlighted the congregation’s global impact and commitment to education and social justice. Mr. Shan Michael shared his personal journey with KJES – Youth Works, motivating the young animators to embrace their roles with passion and responsibility.
Fr. Pradeep RS SJ, a Jesuit priest and sculptor, spoke on Jesuit Youth Identity, urging participants to embody leadership and inspire others. The group later visited Jesuit institutions, gaining firsthand insight into their work. Ms. Nita D’Souza, an active member of Ignitors, encouraged the youth to reflect on their experiences and engage deeply in their mission.
Addressing the challenges young people face today, Fr. Maxim Dias SJ stressed the importance of Jesuit Youth Ministry in shaping values and driving positive change. Discussions followed, with animators sharing their perspectives and plans for the future.
Participants outlined the Action Plan for 2025, setting clear goals for their roles. The training empowered 35 youth animators to step up as leaders and role models in their communities.
