Bhopal, January 27, 2025: The Holy Family Church in Bhopal inaugurated its Jubilee 2025 celebrations on January 26, coinciding with the 76th Republic Day of India and the Sixth Sunday of the Word of God.
The event began with the hoisting of the national flag by the main celebrant of the day, Rev. Fr. Alfred D'Souza, the PRO of the Archdiocese of Bhopal. This was followed by a solemn Bible procession, where the Holy Bible and the Jubilee Pilgrim Cross were carried from the nearby Pushpa Girls Hostel to the church premises. Altar servers, priests, sisters, and parishioners participated in the procession, setting a reverent tone for the day.
Inside the church, the Jubilee Cross and the Bible were placed near the Holy Altar. The Bible was then incensed and garlanded by Fr. Alfred, joined by Rev. Fr. Thomas Philip, the parish priest, and Rev. Dr. Fr. John P. J., principal of BSSS College. During his homily, Fr. Alfred explained the significance of the jubilee, quoting Leviticus 25 and emphasizing the theme of this year’s jubilee, “Pilgrims of Hope.” He urged the parishioners to come up with their own ways of celebrating the Jubilee Year in the parish.
Drawing attention to the Sunday of the Word of God, Fr. Alfred stressed the importance of living the ‘Word’ in their daily lives. Citing St. James 1:22, he urged believers to become doers of the Word, emphasizing its transformative power as a living and tangible sign beyond the confines of scripture.
The event, organized with active participation from the parish community, set a spiritually enriching tone for the Jubilee 2025 celebrations, aligning faith, hope, and a sense of community.
