Fellowship Meet for Catholic Retreat Preachers Held in Trichy, Tamil Nadu

Trichy, Tamil Nadu, July 10, 2025: The Priests’ Prayer Fellowship, a spiritual gathering for priests involved in the retreat preaching ministry, was held from July 7 to 9 at the Infant Jesus Ashram in Trichy. Twenty-six Catholic priests from across Tamil Nadu participated in the three-day event, which focused on prayer, scripture reflection, and spiritual renewal.

During the three days of the event, participants encouraged one another to impart and use Charismatic gifts. They also engaged in intensive spiritual exercises to deepen their personal faith and enhance the effectiveness of their preaching ministry.

Bp. Vincent Mar Paulos, Bishop of Marthandam, led a special session during the event. In his address to the participating priests, he emphasised that “Evangelization in the Spirit” is the only authentic path for the Church to grow in today’s challenging world.

The Priests’ Prayer Fellowship was founded in September 2009 after Catholic lay preacher Bro. Johnson Victor of Chennai received a divine inspiration during deep prayer. With the support of Fr. C. A. James of Sivagangai Diocese and Bro. Augustine, former Provincial of the Sacred Heart Brothers and current Secretary of the Evangelization Commission of Sivagangai Diocese, the fellowship took shape and has grown steadily over the years.

Fr. Maria Antony, O.S.M., currently serves as the Communications Coordinator of the Fellowship. Priests who are members of the association meet in person every four months for fellowship and also connect weekly in the evening every Monday through Zoom.

The next edition of the Priests' Prayer Fellowship will take place from 17 to 19 November at the same venue.
