BRBC Hosts Liturgy Seminar to Deepen Faith Across Bihar Dioceses

Patna, Bihar, July 11, 2025: The Commission for Liturgy of the Bihar Regional Bishops’ Council (BRBC) held a three-day seminar on liturgy from July 9 to 11, 2025, at Navjyoti Niketan, the Regional Pastoral Centre of the Bihar Ecclesiastical Region, in Patna. The conference brought together 68 parish priests and pastoral sisters from all six dioceses of Bihar to deepen their understanding and commitment to liturgical practices.

Fr. Rudolf Raj Pinto OFM, the National Secretary for the Commission for Liturgy of the Conference of Catholic Bishops of India, served as the main resource person for the seminar. Fr. Vijay Bhaskar, the Regional Secretary of the BRBC Commission for Liturgy, coordinated the event.

During the three days of the event, Fr. Rudolf delivered several sessions covering a wide range of topics related to church liturgy. These included "Foundation of Liturgy and Sacraments", "Liturgical Celebration of the Eucharist—Structure of the Mass", "Division of Ministries", "Duties and Ministries in the Liturgical Celebration", "Arrangement and Ornamentation of the Liturgy", "Liturgical Music", and "Popular Piety". His insight-filled presentations prompted numerous questions from several participants, reflecting their deep interest and commitment to a dignified liturgy.

Each day of the seminar featured a spiritually enriching Eucharistic celebration, presided over by a bishop from the Bihar region. On July 9, Bishop James Shekhar of the Buxar Diocese celebrated the Mass. Archbishop Sebastian Kallupura of the Patna Archdiocese led the celebration on July 10. On the final day of the event, Bishop Cajetan Osta of Muzaffarpur, who also serves as the Chairman of the BRBC, presided over the Mass. Their presence and active participation underscored the profound spiritual significance of the event.

During group discussions, diocesan representatives shared their plans to replicate similar seminars in their respective dioceses, ensuring that the momentum for liturgical renewal continues throughout the region.

The seminar concluded on a high note, with participants expressing gratitude to Fr. Vijay Bhaskar, Fr. Anil Benet Cruz (Regional Secretary for Faith Formation), and the staff of Navjyoti Niketan for their wholehearted support in organising the event.
