Family Commission of Our Lady of Vailankanni Church, Bhadravathi, Hosts Father’s Day Event

BHADRAVATHI, Karnataka, June 16, 2025: The Family Commission of Our Lady of Vailankanni Church, Old Town, Bhadravathi, led by Sr. Shobhana, organised a joyful Father’s Day celebration on Sunday, June 15, 2025, at the parish church premises. Dozens of fathers from across the parish participated in the spiritually enriching programme dedicated to honouring fatherhood.

The celebration commenced with a solemn introduction to the Holy Mass, during which all fathers of the parish entered the church in a special procession. Each father offered a flower bearing a virtue symbolising fatherhood at the altar of St. Joseph, in a moving tribute to the patron saint of families.

Fr. Steven D'Sa, who presided over the Eucharistic celebration, delivered an inspiring homily that reflected on the sacred role of a father within the family. He beautifully linked the role of a father to the relationship within the Holy Trinity, highlighting love, unity, and sacrifice as the foundation of Christian fatherhood.

A special Holy Hour followed the Mass, during which Fr. Steven anointed each father with holy oil. The anointing was accompanied by a deeply moving hymn, invoking the presence of the Holy Spirit. Fathers were also invited to receive a personal blessing and spend intimate moments in adoration before the Blessed Sacrament.

As a token of gratitude, the Family Commission presented each father with a Rosary and sweets, recognising their contribution to family and parish life. Fathers also participated actively in the liturgy of the Mass, enriching the spiritual tone of the celebration.

Mrs. Jessy Gonsalves, on behalf of the parish and the Family Commission, expressed heartfelt appreciation to all fathers for their steadfast love and dedication, both in their homes and in the church community.

The event concluded on a note of spiritual fulfilment and communal gratitude, underscoring the vital presence of fathers in nurturing faith and family values.
