Embracing Challenges, Promoting Peace: Bishop Ignatius D'Souza Leads Seminar on Pastoral Ministry

Ghaziabad, UP - A seminar on enhancing pastoral ministry was held at Jyoti Niketan, Massoori, Ghaziabad, UP, on February 25. The seminar for Capuchin parish priests of Krist Jyoti Province, North India, featured Bishop Ignatius D'Souza of Bareilly Diocese as the resource person.


The seminar consisted of three sessions, each focusing on a different aspect of pastoral ministry. The first session, titled "Embracing Challenges in Ministry," explored the challenges faced by Jesus in his mission and drew lessons for priests and religious in their own ministry.


The second session, "Pastoral Prudence to Face Challenges in the Current Political Scenario in North India," highlighted the importance of pastoral prudence in navigating the complex and sensitive issues that arise in the current political climate. Bishop Ignatius emphasized the need for the Church to promote peace and reconciliation, and to avoid partisan politics.


The third session, "Enhancing Pastoral Ministry: The Power of Prayer and Dependence on the Holy Spirit," focused on the essential role of prayer and dependence on the Holy Spirit in enhancing pastoral ministry. Bishop Ignatius stressed that effective ministry is not about human strength or strategies but about the power of the Holy Spirit.


Throughout the seminar, Bishop Ignatius drew on biblical wisdom and shared personal anecdotes and examples to illustrate his points. He encouraged the participants to renew their commitment to personal and corporate prayer and to intentionally seek the Holy Spirit's guidance and empowerment.


The seminar provided a valuable opportunity for Capuchin parish priests to come together, share experiences, and deepen their understanding of the challenges and rewards of ministry. The event was marked by a sense of camaraderie and a shared commitment to enhancing pastoral ministry in North India.
