Bulandshahr Parish, UP, Celebrates 65 Years of Mission at St. Gonsalo Garcia Feast

BULANDSHAHR, 25 February 2025 – The Feast of St. Gonsalo Garcia was solemnly celebrated at St. Gonsalo Nivas on February 23, under the Archdiocese of Agra, marking 65 years of dedicated mission work in the region. The mission in Bulandshahr has played a pivotal role in strengthening the faith of the local Catholic community, fostering spiritual growth, and spreading the message of Christ. Over the decades, numerous bishops and priests have worked tirelessly to nurture religious vocations, support parish initiatives, and build a strong foundation of faith.

Most Rev. Dr. Raphy Manjaly, Archbishop of Agra, presided over the Eucharistic celebration, which included a Bible procession and a solemn thanksgiving Mass. A significant moment of the liturgy was the First Holy Communion of young Alisha George, who expressed her gratitude in a heartfelt speech.

The cultural program that followed featured a series of graceful dance performances by Alisha George, Martina and the Catechism students of St. Joseph Church, Jhangirabadh, adding to the joyous atmosphere of the event. Mr. Anuj then presented the parish report, highlighting mission growth, pastoral initiatives, and community engagement.

Archbishop Manjaly concluded the celebration with an address, encouraging the faithful to reflect on their identity as God’s children and to share His love with others. He emphasised that such events go beyond cultural expressions, serving as reminders of faith and unity.

The feast was a testament to the commitment and dedication of the parish community, led by Parish Priest Fr. Viniversal. A vote of thanks by Mrs. Ashritha, Vice President of the parish, marked the conclusion of the event, followed by a community meal blessed by the Archbishop.

St. Gonsalo Nivas has been a centre of evangelisation, guiding generations of faithful through pastoral care, education, and community outreach. This year’s feast stood as a testament to that enduring legacy, bringing together clergy, religious communities, and parishioners in a joyous celebration of faith and gratitude.
